Kinda Tropical is part bodega, part cafe and part bar, located in East Austin. They offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner with tropical-leanings: Grilled satays, rotating ramens, curry-of-the-day and kimchi egg sandwiches are served with a curated selection of beers, wine and sake. Branzino for dinner, karaoke for dessert.
LAND worked closely with the owners to transform the once run-of-the-mill convenient store into the casual neighborhood spot it deserved to be, creating everything from the hand-painted signage and murals that adorn the beer cooler and restrooms to handmade metal typography and psychedelic illustrations of smiling cobras and stoned parrots.
